Mrs. Chili: I've been collecting quotations since I was really young - a year or two! - but deciding to have Quotation Saturday is forcing me to categorize them, and that is a very good thing.

A typical Saturday's quotes takes about four hours to put together. Once I get them all categorized, it won't take quote so long.

SafeLibraries: Every person has the right to forbid his/her own children from choosing to read any book, but NOBODY has the right to forbid other people or their children from having that choice.

As for "age-appropriateness," some children are ready to read "War & Peace" in second grade, while other people are never ready. I still maintain that if a person of any age wishes to attempt to read a book, he/she should have the right to give it a try. Families who don't appreciate questions raise a red flag in my mind.

"It also highlights the thing we know about Banned Books Week that we don't talk about much — the bulk of these books are challenged by parents for being age-inappropriate for children. While I think this is still a formidable thing for librarians to deal with, it's totally different from people trying to block a book from being sold at all."

"The interest in protecting young library users from material inappropriate for minors is legitimate, and even compelling, as all Members of the Court appear to agree."
