Totally agree w/ everything you said. Wish they would bring back something worth watching besides "reality" tv! Yuck! I feel bad for my 10 & 12 yr old, they have no idea what they are missing! Same reasons why Average Joe/Jane Public isn't interested in Kristen Chenowith on stage, or Josh Groban singing opera, but just loves when she's playing a dippy hillbilly in "RV" and he's singing "You Lift Me Up". While it's a talk show and not a variety show, I think The Bonnie Hunt show has a lot of the qualities you mention. Unfortunately, it didn't get renewed, and will be ending after this season.
