Fortunately, most of them show up having taken a shower and put on clean clothes, although that is not always the case. Thank goodness I only have to make the drive about three days per week. I wholeheartedly agree that schools, at least high schools, should begin their day at a later time. People seem to forget, that when teens are asleep, they are not smoking pot, drinking alcoholic beverages, blasting their eardrums with too loud I-pods, having unprotected or wreckless sex, stealing stuff with their evil friends, or a host of other evil things attributed to teens. But then again, there are lots of good things they could be doing besides sleeping. I say, get your rest, keep your body and mind healthy and get those good things done. And darnit, you keep reminding me of it! (I did go back post-grad for a teaching cert. and did really well. I was too immature, I guess.) I am not convinced my son is ready for the responsibility of college, for one thing, he's not sure what he wants to do and for another he struggles with depression and anxiety. I'm thinking a gap year might do him good...or not...how's a parent to know? The part about people who get up and do what they have to do even when they don't want to-because it's the mature and grown up thing to do. How old am I really? I must be an eighty year old in a twenty year old's body then. Or my mind and soul must be old. Because my duties far outweigh my desires. If I were in college-I'd show up to midterms.
