A Thank-you Note to My Students

Mamacita says:  My students this semester are, for the most part, some of the nicest people I’ve ever met:  hardworking and sincere, with good attitudes, and sincerely trying to attain their goals.  To say that many of them have difficult lives would be an understatement, but they are trying to go to school in between various crises.  Slacker students are earning their unpleasant fates, and those are fates they deserve, no question about it, but the students I have right now, at least most of them, DON’T deserve the hand life has dealt them right now, and I will move heaven and earth to help them in any way that I can.

There is nothing that impresses a teacher like a pleasant, hard-working student who doesn’t make excuses – he/she makes progress.

Thank you, fall semester 08 students.

  1. So in other words, you’re teaching the kids I was supposed to get. Or the kids I wanted, at any rate.

I wonder if I’ll ever sing the same praises of The Geniuses as a group. Color me pea green with envy over your responsible students. Clearly you are a fabulous teacher, because even the most conscientious pupil needs a leader.
