If you want a great brownie mix, buy Ghirardelli at Costco. They’re the best!!! I’ll never make brownies from scratch again.

I need some help with homemade bread recipes, too. I don’t own a bread machine, so I’d love to find a really good bread recipe to make it myself. (I prefer from-scratch stuff, too.) As far as cake: Oh, goodness, I LOVE making cakes from scratch. The only cake I refuse to make that way is an angel food cake (eek! millions of egg whites and fluffing said egg parts!) I am on a hunt for the perfect German chocolate cake recipe for my husband. I’ve found a pretty good one as far as cake, but the icing isn’t where I want it to be yet.

I DO have a homemade roll recipe from a restaurant in Canada that makes the BEST homemade rolls I’ve ever had in my entire life. Mmmmmmm…literally melt in your mouth rolls. I’d always thought “melt in your mouth” as far as rolls was figurative until I had these. Delicious!

My family hates me because I think Scrubs are a glorified version of Friends. How did you learn to make homemade bread? Is there anyplace on the ‘net you can recommend that has recipes/instructions? We have a bread machine, but haven’t used it in years. The bread does have a slightly unnatural taste. Plus it comes out of the machine all sweaty and with a hole in the bottom where the knife was. I’m ready to try something different.
I made Easter bread this year and it turned out great during the Palm Sunday’s trial run. Then on Easter, I couldn’t make it because all stores were out of yeast. Maybe next year.

2. I can not make good homemade cake, so I cheat with Betty Crocker. Sometimes, I cheat with Duncan Hines. It depends on who’s cheaper that week. I am a discount cheater.

Mrs. Chili says this is not cheating. I have yet to find a yellow cake recipe from scratch that’s better than what I can get out of a box, so I get it out of a box (I have a killer chocolate from-scratch recipe, though). I haven’t found a scratch brownie recipe worth eating, so it’s boxed for that, too. It’s only cheating if you HAVE a scratch recipe that’s just as good -or better- but cook out of a box, anyway.
